Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. As a child she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. When she was six years old, Emma was aware she would like to be an actress and for many years she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied singing dancing and acting. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book began in 1999. Emma was found by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were cast as the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings and became the top-grossing movie in 2001. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and was awarded five awards for the movie.
